Youth compete in free-throw contest

Five girls and six boys from New Rockford, between ages nine to 14, were named local champions of the 2022 New Rockford Knights of Columbus Free-Throw Championship. Knights of Columbus Local Council #2477 in New Rockford sponsored the competition at the New Rockford High School gymnasium on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022. All youngsters ages nine to 14 were eligible to participate. There were also second and third-place winners' awards given out.

Each contestant was allowed 15 free-throw attempts in the contest. Ties were settled by successive rounds of five free-throws per contestant until a winner emerged. All winners will advance to the District Shoot Off, which will be held in Devils Lake on Sunday, Feb. 20.

There were 37 participants in all. Thanks to everyone who participated.
