American Legion Auxiliary observes Veterans Day

In observance of Veterans Day, American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Raymond B. Thorn, Post #30 hosted a Veterans Day Breakfast from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the New Rockford Eagles Club to honor all military veteran service members' dedication and their sacrifices. Veterans were treated to a free pancake and sausage breakfast. "The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces make sacrifices every day to ensure that Americans continue to enjoy the freedoms that we hold so dear. This event is just one of the ways that we're able to honor veterans, active military, and their families," said Sharon Ludwig, President of the New Rockford ALA.

Following the breakfast, the winners of the auxiliary's annual raffle were announced. Congratulations to the winners: Todd Haley--$100, Sharon Young and Nancy Ludwig--$50, and Richard O'Connor and Susan Sanderson--$25.

On Nov. 10, the ALA celebrated 102 years of service! The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) is a community of volunteers serving veterans, active military, and their families. Our members also support the mission of The American Legion in helping to improve the quality of life for our nation's veterans. Proud sponsor of ALA Girls State and Nation, National Poppy Day, and recognized for advocating for veterans on Capitol Hill, the more than 600,000 ALA members across the country volunteer millions of hours annually, and raise millions of dollars in service to veterans, active military, and their families. Founded in 1919, the ALA is one of the oldest patriotic membership organizations in the U.S.A. We thank our members, volunteers, and donors for all they have done to allow our organization to serve veterans, active military, and their families for more than a century. Because of your commitment, the ALA will continue to serve into the future.
