Dakota Recreation Report: Nov. 8, 2021

Outdoor notes:

*Go to the N.D. Game and Fish Dept. website, (gf.nd.gov) for information regarding North Dakota’s new electronic posting regulations and assistance.

*Nov. 8: Fall crow season closes.

*Nov. 13: Pekin Rod and Gun Club Ducks Unlimited Wild Game Night, Pekin Community Center, 6:00 p.m.

*Nov. 14: Sandhill crane season closes.

Fishing:

*Devils Lake elevation, Nov 2: 1,447.08 feet above mean sea level (MSL).

*Stump Lake elevation: 1,440 MSL.

*Lake Sakakawea elevation: 1,830.35 MSL; 13,500 cubic feet per second average (CFS) Garrison Dam daily releases.

*N.D. Game and Fish Dept. Dist. game wardens: Limited activity on Devils Lake, although anglers working the bridges from boat and shore continue finding fair success. No reports from the Missouri River System or area lakes.

*Devils Lake, Ed’s Bait Shop, Devils Lake: Little activity although fair walleye success for anglers still working along any of the bridges. Try Lindy rigs or jigs with minnows from boats.

*Devils Lake, Lakeview Lodge, Minnewaukan: Little activity.

*Devils Lake, Woodland Resort, Devils Lake: Not many anglers out, but those going continue to find nice walleye with most anglers pitching crankbaits from shore around the bridges.

*Foster County area lakes, Dry Dock, Carrington: Area lakes remain quiet.

*Jamestown Reservoir, Pioneer Bait and Tackle, Jamestown: Little activity throughout area lakes.

*Jamestown Reservoir, Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Activity remains light throughout area lakes.

*Lake Ashtabula, Ashtabula Crossing, Luverne: Fair fall walleye success.

*Lake Ashtabula, Bayshore, Valley City: Lake elevations remain stable yet before winter draw-down. Weather permitting, the few anglers on the lake are finding fair-to-good walleye success. Not as many anglers shore-fishing and panfish activity slowed.

*Lake Sakakawea, Cenex Bait and Tackle, Garrison: Minimal activity on the east end of Lake Sakakawea.

*Lake Sakakawea/Lake Audubon/Missouri River, Scott’s Bait and Tackle, Pick City: Activity remains limited on the Missouri River tailrace and east end of Lake Sakakawea, including for salmon.

*Lonetree WMA area lakes, Harvey: No new reports. Coal Mine Lake closed to small game hunting and fishing through Nov. 30.

Hunting:

*Deer: Some hunters in areas along the Missouri River System turned deer tags back to the N.D. Game and Fish Dept. after the EHD outbreak, but areas farther east were less impacted.

*Upland: Continued fair success in pockets.

*Waterfowl: Birds are moving out of northeast N.D., but large numbers of snow geese moving into northern and central N.D., including along the east end of the Missouri River System. Lots of snow geese in east-central N.D. with fair duck numbers. Migration near its peak in northwest N.D., with large numbers of snow geese also moving through. Some ducks in areas with water. A few cranes lingering in the northwest, as well, with good tundra swan numbers.
