Dakota Recreation Report: Nov. 1, 2021

Outdoor notes:

*Go to the N.D. Game and Fish Dept. website, (gf.nd.gov) for information regarding North Dakota’s new electronic posting regulations and assistance.

*Please submit wildlife mortality observations, such as a dead deer, to the N.D. Game and Fish Dept. website reporting form, (gf.nd.gov) to help track EHD and CWD. However, do not possess any antlers or heads without a Game and Fish Dept. permit.

*Nov. 4: Jamestown Ducks Unlimited banquet, KC Hall, Jamestown, 5:30 p.m.

*Nov. 5: Deer gun season opens.

*Nov. 8: Fall crow season closes.

Fishing:

*Devils Lake elevation, Oct. 26: 1,447.03 feet above mean sea level (MSL).

*Stump Lake elevation: 1,446.94 MSL.

*Lake Sakakawea elevation: 1,830.39 MSL; 13,400 cubic feet per second average (CFS) Garrison Dam daily releases.

*N.D. Game and Fish Dept. Dist. game wardens: No new reports.

*Devils Lake, Ed’s Bait Shop, Devils Lake: Continue working the bridges for walleye using jigging Raps and minnows. Angler numbers limited, though.

*Devils Lake, Lakeview Lodge, Minnewaukan: Limited activity, but those going out are finding continued walleye success. Try the bridges.

*Devils Lake, West Bay Resort, Minnewaukan: Little activity.

*Devils Lake, Woodland Resort, Devils Lake: Limited activity with anglers waiting for the transition to ice-fishing.

*Foster County area lakes, Dry Dock, Carrington: No new activity.

*Jamestown Reservoir, Pioneer Bait and Tackle, Jamestown: Area lakes generally quiet.

*Jamestown Reservoir, Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Handful of anglers on area lakes with no new reports.

*Lake Ashtabula, Ashtabula Crossing, Luverne: Generally quiet with wind and cooler temperatures.

*Lake Ashtabula, Bayshore, Valley City: A few anglers still on the water, weather permitting, with occasional success.

*Lake Sakakawea, Cenex Bait and Tackle, Garrison: Not much activity, but those going farther west on the east end of Lake Sakakawea around Deepwater Bay are finding some walleye success.

*Lake Sakakawea/Lake Audubon/Missouri River, Scott’s Bait and Tackle, Pick City: Wind and weather limiting activity on both Missouri River and east end of Lake Sakakawea.

*Lonetree WMA area lakes, Harvey: Little activity. Coal Mine Lake closed to small game hunting and fishing from Sept. 25 through Nov. 30.

Hunting:

*Predators: Coyote pelts should be in nice condition for predator hunters.

*Upland: Fair numbers in areas with adequate cover. Not all roosters are fully colored yet so be careful with identification.

*Waterfowl: Nice numbers of Canada geese and white-fronts moving into the east end of the Missouri River system, north-central, central, and northwestern N.D. Some snow geese moving into the midsection of Lake Sakakawea, but limited water available for ducks. Mostly local birds yet around the Devils Lake area with better numbers closer to the Rugby area earlier in the week.
