Sox clinch #1 seed

Legion Post #30 finished up district play in New Rockford on July 7 with excitement, winning the game against Kidder County in a walk-off 4-3. With the win, NR-S clinched the #1 seed in the District 4 tournament, which starts on July 20 in Jamestown.

The Wolves started off by scoring two in the first inning against starting pitcher, Nick Berglund. The lead-off batter grounded out, Blake Pfaff singled, and the next batter struck out. With two outs, Jonah Harter doubled, scoring Pfaff. Harter stole third and scored on a bad pick-off attempt.

NR-S was able to score in the third on a sacrifice fly by Alex Harrison, after Connor Knatterud walked, Koven Walford walked, and Caden Price singled to load the bases.

Kidder County scored their final run in the top of the fourth, when Elijah Fallgatter reached on an error and advanced to third on the same error. He scored on a single by Mac Kramer.

The Sox answered in the same fashion with one in the bottom of the fourth. Johnny Grann reached on an error and advanced to third on the same error. Trevor Waldo came up big with a two-out single to score Grann.

The big blow came in the bottom of the seventh inning. Walford reached on a fielder's choice and Price singled. Harrison singled to score Walford and Price advanced to third. Berglund was intentionally walked to load the bases. With the infield playing in, Koby Duda singled over second base to score the winning run.

Blake Braun pitched a complete game in a losing effort for Kidder County. Harrison relieved Berglund in the sixth inning and earned the pitching win.
