DPRCA reprises doo-wop hit "Life Could be a Dream"

Sh-Boom! Prepare to be entertained! You might come into the theatre remembering the plot and some of the music, but you'll leave in song after watching this fresh new cast take on a fun classic!

DPRCA is set to bring back one of its most popular shows, "Life Could Be a Dream," but it's certainly not a reunion. Artistic Director Elliott Schwab has cast all new actors for this reprise, and his crew is pulling out all the stops to keep guests entertained through 25 performances!

If you need a refresh, here's the scene: Denny and the Dreamers are a fledgling doo-wop singing group preparing to enter the Big Whopper Radio contest to realize their dreams of making it to the big time! Trouble comes in the form of Lois, who arrives to put some polish on the boys. Denny falls in love, Wally falls in line, Eugene falls apart, and along comes handsome heartthrob Duke to send the whole situation spinning. The '60s hits say it all: "Fools Fall in Love," "Tears on my Pillow," "Runaround Sue," "Earth Angel," "Stay," "Unchained Melody," "Lonely Teardrops," and "The Glory of Love." Winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Best Musical Award, "Life Could Be a Dream" will leave you laughing, singing, and cheering- let's hear it for the boys!

This is DPRCA's first full post-pandemic run, and they look forward to performing live. The theatre is back to 100% capacity, and no masks are required. "We're all vaccinated and ready for a full house," quipped Danny Hollander, who plays Denny, leader of Denny and the Dreamers.

Opening night is this Wednesday, July 7, a rare mid-week start to a 25-show schedule. Performances run Wednesday to Sunday each week, at 7:30 p.m. weekday evenings, and 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Book tickets by calling the DPRCA Box Office at (701) 947-2174, or go online to http://www.dprca.com to secure your seats.

The Garden Bistro is open at 5 p.m. for dinner before evening shows, and at noon before afternoon performances, serving flatbreads, wraps, salads and sandwiches. Call or text (701) 399-9634 to reserve a table.

Over the next couple of weeks, we'll introduce you to the five new faces who are not only on stage at the Old Church Theatre doing five shows a week, they're also soaking up all New Rockford has to offer. Take the time to introduce yourself to them after the show! See "Meet the Cast" on page A2.
