Black Sox win third straight

On Wednesday, June 15, New Rockford Post 30 traveled to Cando Post 79, and came away with a 15-6 win.

The Sox put their hitting shoes on for this game, touching up the Bearcats' starter, Tommy Nikolaisen for 10 hits and eight runs. They added three more hits and seven more runs off of two relievers.

The game was close for the first six innings. Cando held a 1-0 lead at the end of the second. Post 30 took the lead in the top of the third, but Cando led 4-2 by the end of the third. NR retook the lead with three runs in the fifth. The game turned in the sixth inning, when NR scored three runs with two outs, after two dropped third strikes. Cando cut the lead to two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Sox put it away with seven runs in the seventh.

Koven Walford and Alex Harrison had the hot bats in this game. Walford went 3-5 with three doubles and two RBIs. Harrison was 3-3, with a double, two intentional walks and three RBIs. Luke Yri also had a triple and four RBIs in the game.

Koby Duda started for the Sox and earned the win. He pitched into the sixth inning before he was removed due to pitch count. Haydon Meier relieved him and earned his first save.
