Ulrich, Belquist bring home first place from Fessenden Track Meet

The New Rockford-Sheyenne track team traveled to Fessenden to compete in the Fessenden Track Meet on Saturday, May 15. Two Rocket athletes brought home first-place finishes.

Evan Ulrich was one of the two Rocket athletes to place first in an event. Ulrich competed in the shot put and discus events. He received first place with his shot of 42’11” in shot put and fourth place with his throw of 117’02” in discus.

Along with Ulrich, Hunter Johnson competed in the discus and shot put events. Johnson placed third in shot put and received a “no distance” in discus.

Connor Knatterud competed in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash. Knatterud placed eighth in the 100-meter and received a “did not start” in both the 200-meter and 400-meter.

Kelsie Belquist was the second Rocket athlete to bring home first place. Belquist competed in the 100-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles and triple jump. She received first place in the 100-meter, first place in the 300-meter hurdles and second place in the triple jump.

Another top scorer for the Rockets was Chloe Heinz. Heinz competed in the 800-meter run, 1,600-meter run, 3,200-meter run and javelin. Heinz placed second in the 1,600-meter and fifth in javelin. She received a “did not start” in both the 800-meter run and the 3,200-meter run.

Katie Allmaras and Ava Peterson also competed in the 800-meter run. Allmaras received eighth place with a time of 2:50.22, and Peterson wasn’t far behind in ninth place with a time of 2:52.36. Peterson and Allmaras were also contestants in the 400-meter dash. Allmaras placed 14th and Peterson placed 16th.

The girls’ team placed seventh out of 14 teams and the boys’ team placed 10th out of 15 teams.
