Black Sox finish regular season on a high note

SNR finished up the regular season on May 18 when they faced Larimore in New Rockford. SNR won the game decisively 10-4, building momentum going into regional tournament play.

The SNR coaching staff used the game to tune up the pitching, as four different pitchers were used. Senior Alex Harrison made his last home start, pitched into the second inning and had a solid outing, earning the win. He was followed by Nick Berglund, Johnny Grann and Evan Ulrich.

Larimore also used three different pitchers. Bode Gram started the game, pitched two innings and took the loss. Allen Farrell pitched the third and fourth innings. Bo Salander finished up the game, pitching the last two innings.

The bats were hot. The Sox managed 10 hits in the game, and every player was able to run the bases. The seniors; Grann, Harrison, Ulrich and Koven Walford, were playing their last high school home game and all contributed to the win. Harrison had the best night at the plate, making it on base in all four of his plate appearances, with three solid hits and a reach on an error. Ulrich went 2-4 with two RBIs. Walford was 1-3 with a run scored. Grann got an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.

Larimore tried to make the game close late, scoring two runs in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to two, but the Sox scored four more runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.

SNR entered the Region 3 tournament as the number five seed. They were set to play the tournament host and number four seed, Midkota-Dakota Prairie-Lakota-Griggs County on Thursday, May 20, at 4:30 pm in Tolna. The tournament continues May 24-26. The bracket is published below.
