Belquist selected to Hero Sports All America Team

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Freshman wide receiver Bo Belquist, and redshirt sophomore running back Otis Weah, have each been selected as All-Americans by HERO Sports on Wednesday morning. Belquist was named to the freshman team following a standout first season for the UND Fighting Hawks, while Weah garnered sophomore team and All-FCS team honors.

This is the first All-America honor for Belquist and the second straight year a rookie has been honored by the publication as one of the top freshmen in the FCS, with defensive back C.J. Siegel picking up a selection in 2019. Weah has now picked up five All-America selections with his two today, the most by a player at UND since DB Cole Reyes had six in 2016, and most by an offensive player since wide receiver Weston Dressler's six in 2007.

Belquist, who played 9-man football during his prep career in North Dakota, adjusted well to 11-man action in his rookie year with UND, matching the team lead in both catches (25) and receiving touchdowns (3). His 255 receiving yards and 42.5 yards per game were second on the team, as he became the first freshman to lead UND in catches since Travis Toivonen in 2016.

Weah burst onto the scene this season for the green and white, helping UND advance to the quarterfinal round of the FCS playoffs for the first time in program history. The redshirt sophomore led the conference in rushing yards (730), yards per carry (7.16), rushing TDs (9), yards per game (104.3) and total touchdowns (9). Those numbers all sat inside the top-10 nationally, with the total yards, touchdowns and yards per carry ranking among the top-5 backs in the country.
