The Carrington Pitcrew is a wrestling club for wrestlers in kindergarten through sixth grade from Carrington and the surrounding areas. Currently, there are five wrestlers in the club from New Rockford. The program is run by volunteers. The wrestlers have practice up to three times a week, and tournaments are optional. Pitcrew currently has approximately 40 wrestlers, with approximately half of them competing regularly throughout the season.
On February 27, Carrington Pitcrew hosted its own dual tournament at the Carrington School. The tournament included 16 teams from three states. Carrington B team (grades K-3) finished the day with a third place finish for their age group.
On February 28, Carrington Pitcrew hosted its own individual tournament at the Carrington School, which included over 430 wrestlers from four different states. The individual tournament had wrestlers in grades pre-K to 4 competing in the morning, and the fifth through eighth grades competing in the afternoon, in order to control numbers due to COVID-19 regulations.
The wrestlers have had the chance to travel across the state for tournaments in Bismarck, Hazen, Velva, Harvey, Napoleon, Linton, Lisbon, Mayville, and more, to compete in three-to-five man brackets. Each wrestler generally wrestled two to four matches a tournament.
The elementary and junior high state tournament is being hosted by MatPac Wrestling in Bismarck on March 26 and 27, 2021 at the Bismarck Event Center.
