Local VFW Voice of Democracy contest winners were Harrison Joseph (left) and Landon Hanson.
The "Voice of Democracy" audio essay theme this year was: "Is This the Country the Founders Envisioned?"
The first place winner from Sheyenne VFW Post 3696 was Harrison Joseph. Harrison advanced to the district level, where he was awarded second place.
The "Patriot's Pen" written theme, this year, was: "What is Patriotism to Me?"
The first place winner from Post 3696 was Landon Hanson. Landon advanced to the district level to take first place, and then advanced to state. At the state level, he was awarded first place.
Checks were presented from Post 3696, and from the district and state levels. The state level award winner also received a plaque.
