A successful holiday promotion in Carrington is coming to New Rockford, just in time for Easter!
Lioness, an apparel and accessories retailer in downtown Carrington, started offering care packages to residents of Golden Acres Manor last fall. For $20, anyone could purchase a care package for a resident, which was then hand-assembled by owner Hope Carr and delivered to the local nursing home in time for Christmas.
Carr has decided to launch a similar program for Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd residents and Heritage House tenants here in New Rockford this month. Readers, do you know someone at LHGS or Heritage House that would enjoy a little care package at Easter time? If so, here's your chance to play Easter Bunny for these residents that have missed so much over the past year.
Here's how it works:
• All you need to do is be a sponsor! The cost is $20 per resident, and you can either fill out the short form printed on the back page of this newspaper and mail it back to Lioness with your payment, or sponsor online at their secure web link: https://www.lionessprotectyourpride.com/product-page/spring-senior-gifts-new-rockford-community. If you're feeling generous, you can easily sponsor three or five or more residents by simply choosing the number you wish to sponsor and pay $20 each.
• Lioness matches your $20 to offer a spring themed care package valued at $40.
• Make sure you provide your email or mobile phone number when you sponsor! When the packages are assembled and ready for delivery, Lioness will email or text you a photo of the actual care package the resident is about to receive with your sponsorship.
• Lioness will deliver the care packages to LHGS and Heritage House in late March, in time for Easter.
To ensure that all residents are "adopted" and there is time to assemble packages, Carr asks that sponsorships be received by Friday, March 12. Note that there is no need to specify a resident. Each $20 sponsorship will be used to fill a package, which will then be handed out to a resident who would enjoy the items contained within.
The program was well-received by Golden Acres residents, as evidenced by the sweet thank you letters and emails Carr received. One family member wrote, "Thank you for doing this project- my mom is in Golden Acres and she was so excited to show us her new sweater yesterday when we visited her through the window!"
Lioness is in its fifth year of operation in Carrington. The Main Street storefront has been closed for several months due to COVID-19, but plans are in place to reopen the store prior to Easter.
