Archival Anecdotes: Hear the 1920s roar

Josephine Simon wore this dress in the 1920s. It is brown and has a knee-length skirt, faux buttons up front, and wide pleated frill with lace around the neck and sleeves. Donated by Mr. and Mrs. Dave Simon and Mr. and Mrs. Fran O'Connor.

The 1920s are known as being a revolutionary time of growth and modernization, but to be honest I never really understand why. (This is when I note that I am trained as an anthropologist, not a historian.)
