Rockets send Hornets back to the nest

The New Rockford Sheyenne Rockets put the stopper on the Harvey-Wells County Hornets at Fessenden on Tuesday, January 26. The Hornets kept up with the Rockets for most of the game.

The Rockets and Hornets both fought hard during the first quarter. At the end of the quarter, the Rockets had a one point lead after Evan Ulrich's field goal.

After the second quarter, the Hornets were ahead by two. Little did they know a Rocket comeback was on its way. The Rockets then took a 15-point lead in the third quarter, but the Hornets weren't ready to give up yet.

During the fourth quarter, Hornets sophomore Tate Grossman put up two three pointers and three field goals. Jaxon Fike and Madden Thorson also put up three pointers in the fourth in hopes of beating the Rockets.

Grann's free throw put the Rockets at 61 with 11 seconds left in the game. As Kaden Jensen was driving toward the hoop, Hornet guard Tate Grossman, fouled Jensen and sent him to the free throw line. The Rockets rebounded the free throw with five seconds left on the clock which left no chance for the Hornets to shoot one last time.

Senior Evan Ulrich led the Rockets with 30 total points. Nick Berglund trailed behind with 14 points, and Grann had 11 points.

The Hornets' top scorer was Tate Grossman with 16 points. Also in the double digits for the Hornets was Jaxon Fike who had 10 points. Other high scorers for Harvey-Wells County were Alex Erickson with nine and Isaac Friese with six.
