Obituary: George Willyard

George LeRoy Willyard, age 85, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington, N.D.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington. Burial was held at Carrington Cemetery. Rev. Rick Loewen officiated the service. Casket bearers were Mark Lange, Jeff Barton, Chans Price, Gaylen Rosenau, Mark Laber and Dan Beckley. Military honors were provided by North Dakota National Guard Funeral Honors Team.

George was born on Dec. 18, 1934, at Edmunds, N.D., to Warren and Edyth (Zink) Willyard. He grew up and attended school in Melville, N.D. He spent six years in the National Guard before he was honorably discharged.

George was employed by Reimers Seed Farm until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Federated Church in Carrington. George was united in marriage to Darlene Bellquist on June 20, 1960, in Cathay, N.D. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his two children, Robin Willyard and Troy Willyard both of Carrington, N.D.; three brothers, Jerry (Arliss) Willyard, Oelwein, Iowa; Alan (Cynthia) Willyard of Carrington, N.D.; and Jim (Mary) Willyard of Anoka, Minn.

George was preceded in death by his wife Darlene; his parents; one brother, Wells; and two sons, Glen and Todd.
