Winners of the local Lions International Peace Poster Contest announced

Kayne Gascoine-Mackner, a sixth grader at New Rockford-Sheyenne School, earned first place in the local Lions International Peace Poster Contest. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.

The New Rockford Lions Club sponsored the local contest and sought submissions from sixth graders at NR-S. Art instructor Erin Radke led the students in completing their posters. The theme of the 2020-21 Peace Poster Contest is "Peace Through Service."

The posters were judged on artistic merit, expression of theme and originality.

Gascoine-Mackner's top prize winning poster will now advance to the North Dakota State Lions Convention.

Thomas Allmaras placed second and Emmie Belquist received third place in the local contest.
