Shear Delight adds pedicures

Get a relaxing spa treatment right here in New Rockford. Shear Delight now offers pedicures by New Rockford native Alissa Bachmeier.

Alissa is available from 2 - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and other times by appointment. A 2007 graduate of New Rockford-Sheyenne High School, she received her cosmetology certificate from the Salon Professional Academy (SPA) of Fargo in 2010.

The 60-minute long pedicures Alissa offers have all the bells and whistles. She starts with the basics, pushing back of the cuticles and trimming and filing the toenails. Then she lathers on the foot scrub, followed by callous remover. Once the feet are clean, the pampering really begins. Alissa's favorite part is the foot mask, which exfoliates, smoothes and softens the skin. She then applies moisturizer and massages the feet, relaxing the muscles and soothing aches and pains.

The final – and most fun – step, is the polish. Choose from a variety of polish colors in matte, glitter, shimmer, or textured finishes, and really make those toenails pretty!

In offering pedicures, Alissa aims to provide a novelty service. "It's something you don't have to do all the time," Bachmeier says, noting that it's fun to get pampered once in a while. She said pedicures were among her favorite treatments to do while studying at SPA, and that she enjoys making others feel good.

Coming soon are paraffin wax dips! During this soothing treatment, the feet are submerged in a warm mixture of paraffin wax and mineral oil. The warm wax soothes aching joints, improves circulation, and softens rough skin. Bachmeier said she will offer paraffin wax treatments for customers' hands as well, in conjunction with a pedicure.

Bachmeier also works full-time at 4th Corporation. She and her significant other, Nate Collier, have three children: Bradyn, Rowan and Presley.
