Obituary: Judy Ericsson

Judy Kay Ericsson, 72, of Lemmon, S.D. passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2020 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, N.D.

Services were held Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lemmon. Pastor Charlotte Kvale officiated with burial in Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.

Special music was be provided by Marilyn Willey. Casket bearers were Justin, Jordan, Kevin Aase; Troy, Todd, Tim, and Jesse Dauenhauer.

Judy was born on August 14, 1948, in Belle Fourche, S.D. to John and Esther (Lindholm) Aase. She grew up on the family farm near Scranton, N.D. Judy attended Whiting School for first and second grade and third, fourth, and fifth grades at the Eden School. She graduated from Scranton High School in 1967. Judy attended business school in Rapid City, S.D.

Judy moved to Lemmon, S.D., where she met Jerry Ericsson in 1969. They were married on August 15, 1969 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Lemmon. A son, John, was born in Hettinger, N.D., in 1971 and a daughter, Joanne, was born in El Paso, Texas in 1972.

Judy and Jerry lived in various states when Jerry was serving his country in the U.S. Army and served on various police forces and Chief of Police. While living in Arlington, Va., Judy operated a daycare out of her home while Jerry was stationed with the Old Guard. In 1977, they returned to Lemmon where she worked as a nurse's aide at Five Counties and then in Bowman as a medical records clerk and cook at the café. They moved to New Rockford, N.D., where she worked as a nurse's aide at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd. In 1997, they returned to Lemmon where she again worked as a nurse's aide at Five Counties Nursing Home until retiring.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jerry, Lemmon; son and daughter-in-law, John and Melissa Ericsson, Minot, N.D.; daughter, Joanne Ericsson, Lemmon; three grandchildren Dana (Matt) Heid, Seth and Nick Ericsson; her mother-in-law, Martha Paulson, Lemmon; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Juanita Aase, Scranton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, John Raymond Aase and Edward Gene Aase; father-in-law, Gordon Arthur Ericsson; two sisters-in-law, Helen Lorraine Moore and Beverly Jean (Ted) Dauenhauer.
