2020 Election: Eddy County to have Brown Memorial open for in-person voting on November 3

Eddy County Auditor Patty Williams said Monday that voters will be able to cast their ballots in person for the General Election this November. The Brown Memorial in New Rockford will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 3 for Election Day voting.

However, the Eddy County Commission encourages residents to vote by mail for the protection of the election workers and the voters. Anyone who submitted their application for the primary with the "General Election" or "All Statewide Elections" boxes checked will automatically be sent a General Election ballot, which will be mailed out on September 24. Williams will be mailing out applications to all other active voters in just 14 days, on September 14.

As there was in June, there will be a drop box located at the bottom of the courthouse steps starting September 25. The box will be accessible weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for voters who wish to drop off their ballots rather than mail them. On the day before election, November 2, the ballot box will be available until 5 p.m.

Voters are encouraged to use the drop box or mail their ballots back as soon as possible after receiving them in the mail. If returning a ballot by mail, note that it must be postmarked no later than the day before the election. If returning a ballot using drop box, it must be returned by 5 p.m. the day before election.

Residents who choose to vote in person at the Brown Memorial are encouraged to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
