Chamber says YES to July 4 fireworks, parade

Cue the flags, sirens and firecrackers! New Rockford will hold its annual Independence Day Celebration this year. The New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce board voted unanimously Tuesday to authorize the planning of the parade and purchase of fireworks for the display, which are set for their traditional 10 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. start times on July 4.

Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to plan events in accordance with current state guidelines and COVID-19 restrictions. The Chamber will advertise all local events as they have in the past, promoting the celebration in area newspapers, online and on social media.

During their deliberations, board members all agreed that the focus of the celebration is the local community, and the goal is to ensure that residents have a holiday weekend for which they can look forward. If restrictions are eased enough to allow former residents and area people to gather and attend, all will be welcome. The Chamber will organize its events in a way that reflects their interest in the safety and health of all.

Residents should read this newspaper in print or online and go to the New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page for the most up to date information. Details on guidelines for safe event attendance and parade participation will be provided as the weekend draws near.
