Obituary: Arlys Skadberg

Arlys Inger Skadberg, 93, passed away March 9, 2020 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, N.D. The funeral service was held Saturday, March 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Carrington. Burial was in Carrington. Father Terry Dodge officiated with special music provided by Scott Beumer, Sacred Heart Choir and Marlene Boyer. Casket bearers were Tony Lecce, Michael Harmon, Ian Harmon, Dominic Harmon, Brett Harmon, Damion Harmon, Abel Harmon, Kellin Harmon, Justin Harmon-Calder, Robert Harmon, Lea Kemp, Ellie Harmon, Anna Harmon, Genia Plumb, Serina Harmon, Sean Calder and Mya Berna.

Arlys was born on March 21, 1926 in Carrington, to John and Mamie Skadberg. She graduated from Carrington High School and attended Concordia College for two years. She then taught math at Annamose High School, where despite her being almost as young as her students, inspired two to become math majors!

On Dec. 27, 1946 she married Ralph Harmon. Arlys graduated from NDSU with a degree in home economics.

Arlys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Stanley, Jerry, Marvin, Kermit, and Jim; sisters-in-laws Elsie, Doris, Marvel and brother-in-law Robert Shannon.

Arlys is survived by her children, Michael Harmon, Rapid City, S.D.; Jane Harmon, Los Angeles, Calif.; Kitty Harmon, Helena, Mont;, Joan Harmon (Jim Calder), New York City, N.Y.; Jim (Maria) Harmon, Carrington; Tom (Amii) Harmon, Eaton, Colo., and Anne (Andy) Harmon Gale, Nyack, N.Y.; sisters, Judy (Ron) Semmens, Mayville, N.D., Sonja Shannon, Rapid City; sisters-in law Jeanette Skadberg, Gold Canyon, Ariz. and Patti Skadberg, Carrington; brother-in-law Arlo Neumiller, Fargo, N.D.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grand children and a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.
