Sans Haley, Rockets fall in opening round of Region 4 Tournament

Unfortunately, Hannah Haley did not play in this game, due to a back injury. The Rockets never quit, but it was just too much. The Cardinals from the outset as Langdon-Area-Edmore-Munich defeated the locals, by a final score of 60-14, in the first round of the Region 4 Girls Basketball Tournament played at Devils Lake on Monday, Feb. 24. On a positive note, Brianna Price did suit up and play in this game, after sitting out during the District Tourney. Langdon-Area-Edmore-Munich led throughout and at all quarter stops, 25-7, 41-9, 54-11 and again the Cardinals won, 60-14.

The Cardinals pressed more than they should have and their starters should have definitely played less. Langdon-Area-Edmore-Munich made 26 field goals, 4-7 free throws and committed 11 fouls. The Rockets made 5 field goals, 2-4 free throws and committed 9 fouls. Callie Ronningen paced the Cardinals with a game-high 17 points. Jaya Henderson added 13 points. No Rocket player scored in double figures.

The Rockets lose the following seniors to graduation, and they all will be greatly missed: Hannah Haley, Brianna Price and Ashlynn Benson. Next season could be quite promising for the Rockets. The Rockets close out the season at 11-10 overall.
