Obituary: Marlene Knatterud

Marlene Ellen Knatterud, 68, of New Rockford, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 15 at Evans Funeral Home. Rev. Mindy Meier officiated. Honorary bearers included Grandchildren.

Marlene, daughter of Melvin and Stelma (Simsonson) Gunderson was born on Aug. 28, 1951 in Harvey. She was raised in rural Maddock and graduated from Maddock High School in 1969 and attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton.

She was united in marriage to Alan Knatterud on June 26, 1970 at Viking Lutheran Church, rural Maddock. They made their home in New Rockford.

Along with being a home maker, Marlene worked various jobs in New Rockford, the North Dakota Department of Transportation, and was the bookkeeper for Alan's Furnace Service.

She loved spending time with the family and she cherished her time with her grandkids. She hated making potato salad, but was asked to make it for every gathering she attended as it was loved by all.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 49 years; daughters Dawn Knatterud of Oxnard, Calif., Denise Knatterud of Drayton, N.D .; son Danny Knatterud of New Rockford; six grandchildren; sister Emily Fossen of Grand Forks, and sister-in-law Gloria Simonson of Franklin, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Sidney.
