Obituary: Darlene Hungness

Darlene R. Hungness, 73, of New Rockford, N.D. passed away Jan. 29, 2020 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford. The funeral was held Feb. 1 at First Lutheran Church of New Rockford, Rev. Doug Nemitz officiated. Special music was provided by Mary Ellen Rue and Paula Loewen. Burial was at Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sheyenne. Casket bearers were Scott Skjerva, Scott Stafford, Kenny Reis, Larry Munson, Gary Westby and Dan Shroyer.

Darlene was born Jan. 1, 1947 in Devils Lake, N.D., the daughter of Alvern and Gloria (Kindem) Narveson. She grew up in Oberon and graduated from Oberon High School. She later attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and then worked as a secretary for North Dakota State University in the Home Economics Department for seven years.

She married Paul Hungness on July 8, 1966 at Grandfield Lutheran Church, near Sheyenne, N.D. They made their home in New Rockford where she was employed by what was then Hagen's Super Value for 27 years.

Darlene was a member of First Lutheran Church, New Rockford and was a former quilter.

Darlene is survived by her husband; son Brannon, Rochester, N.Y.; and a brother Roger (Sharon) Narveson, Cando, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
