Kennedy Demester looks to pass

New Rockford-Sheyenne played a pretty good overall game, as the locals defeated Dakota Prairie by a final score of 54-43 in District 7 Girls Basketball action played here on Tuesday, Jan. 7. At times, the game was pretty physical and hard fought. The game was close for much of the first half. It was tied at 14-14 after one stanza. New Rockford-Sheyenne led 29-19 at halftime, 40-24 after three and came thru with a 54-43 win against a District 7 team.

All of the Rockets saw playing time, and seven scored. Cassie Longnecker led the way with 18 points. Hannah Haley added 10 points. Longnecker had 13 in the first half. Haley scored 8 in the fourth quarter. Carly Lippert paced Dakota Prairie with 21 points. NR-S made 24 field goals, 1 of 4 free throws and committed 14 fouls. The Knights made 18 field goals, 4 of 6 free throws and committed 6 fouls. The Rockets improve to 1-0 in District 7 play and are now, 5-3 overall.

Next action for NR-S is Thursday, Jan. 16, against Harvey-Wells County in Harvey. Four games will be played starting at 4 p.m.
