Rockets edge Squirrels

Neither team played all that well overall, but the Rockets came thru and defeated Central Cass by a final score of 56-53 in non-district boys basketball action, played at Casselton, on Tuesday, Dec. 31. This game was very physical and hard fought all the way. The locals led 14-11 after one stanza, Central Cass led 30-29 at halftime, it was 40-37 Rockets after three. Central Cass competes in District 1 and Region 1. The Squirrels made 18 field goals, 10 of 11 free throws, and committed 13 fouls. New Rockford-Sheyenne made 19 field goals, 15 of 21 free throws, and committed 12 fouls. Owen Warrey led Central Cass with 15 points. Christian Lietz added 10 points. Hunter Thompson led the locals with a game high 22 points. He went 100% from the line in the fourth quarter, making 6 of 6 free throws. Bo Belquist added 12 points. The Rockets improved to 4-1, overall.
