CHI to hold 20th Candle Lighting Remembrance Service Sunday Dec. 8

The holidays are usually a time for families to gather and celebrate. However, when a loved one is missing from the family circle, the festive time is mingled with sadness.

The 20th annual Candle Lighting Remembrance Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Chapel at CHI St. Alexius Health- Carrington Medical Center, 878 5th St. N., Carrington. (If we need to reschedule due to weather, the service will be held at the same time on Tuesday, Dec. 10.)

The World-Wide Candle Lighting Service for The Compassionate Friends will also be celebrated at this time. This event is for the general public and is sponsored by CHI Health at Home- Hospice and the Carrington Area Chapter of The Compassionate Friends.

This service is a time to honor the memory of your loved one. Sitting quietly, lighting a candle, speaking the name of your loved one or sharing a memory are ways to participate if you wish; however, the level of participation is voluntary.

Please invite other family members to join you. Those attending in the past have said that they found this service to be very meaningful. A small Christmas tree will be available to display Christmas ornaments which have special meaning in memory of your loved one. You will also have an opportunity to personalize an ornament in memory of your loved one. We will also have a place to display a picture of your loved one if you wish. There will be a time of fellowship following the service. Cookies, hot cider and coffee will be served in the CMC West Conference Room.
