Obituary: Beverly A. Ehlers

Beverly A. Ehlers, 92, Fargo, formerly of New Rockford, passed away at Villa Maria in Fargo on Nov. 3, 2019. A Rosary and Mass were held at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton, N.D. on Friday, Nov. 8.

Beverly was born Dec. 4, 1926 in McHenry, N.D., the daughter of Anton and Dorothy Johanns. She attended Valley City State College after which she taught school for three years in rural Eddy County schools.

On Oct. 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Russell Ehlers in Jessie, N.D.

A member of St. John’s Catholic Church in New Rockford, she was active as a Eucharistic minister, daily Mass reader and Rosary leader. Beverly was also a member and officer of St. Jude’s Circle. She was the Eddy County Deputy Treasurer for one year and the Eddy County Treasurer for 15 years.

Beverly was an active member and spent 17 years as Secretary of the Eagles Auxiliary in New Rockford. She was a member and the “Queen Bee” of the Red Hat Organization.

She moved to Casselton, N.D. nine years ago to be closer to her children. She made many new friends while there and became a regular at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son, Daniel Ehlers, Fargo; daughter Diane (Bruce) Poulson, Durbin, N.D.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by husband, Russell, her parents and three brothers: John, James and Robert.
