Obituary: Darlene Zimmer

Darlene Delores (Meidinger) Zimmer, 80, of Carrington, passed away Oct. 7, 2019, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Carrington. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, N.D. Rev. Keith Hurlbut will officiate with special music provided by Calvary Quartet and Pat Torgerson. Casket bearers are Kevin Zimmer, Craig Zimmer, Kelvin Zimmer, Brye Zimmer, Monty Zimmer and Parker Zimmer. Honorary bearers are all of her nieces and nephews.

Darlene was born Oct. 10, 1938, in Gackle, N.D., to Theodore (Ted) and Marie (Dorr) Meidinger. On Feb. 23, 1958, Darlene married the love of her life, Ervin Zimmer, in Gackle.

Darlene worked at the Jamestown Hospital, Carrington Hospital, and Golden Acres Manor as a nurse's aid. She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Carrington and she stayed involved by sending out birthday and anniversary cards to church members.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Terri) Zimmer, Kelvin (Bonny) Zimmer, all of Bismarck, Monty (Stacy) Zimmer, Oakes, N.D.; four grandsons; her sister, Marlys Klundt, Steele, N.D.; brother and sister-in-law, Don (Judy) Meidinger, Bismarck; sister-in-law, Bernie Zimmer, Mesa, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Arlene Schroeder and Debbie Wiesenburger.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Klundt, Marvin Zimmer, and Melvin Zimmer; and sister-in-law, Carole Zimmer.
