DPRCA shakes things up with "The Crazy Bingo Show"

This weekend, the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts’ Oktoberfest will be a one of a kind. Join the fun for the DPRCA original “The Crazy Bingo Show.” This spin off of the 2010 feature “We Gotta Bingo” will be hosted by “Let’s get Lucky” Bucky Fuller (Morgan Lies) and his hopeful apprentice Lenny (Peter Foss.) This extraordinary duo hosted the 2010 bingo show and are excited to entertain the audience with their outrageous reprise performance. Clad in tacky tuxedos, this duo will put the “wack” in wacky.

“This year’s fundraising event will be unlike any other,” says DPRCA managing director Deb Belquist. Like previous years’ events there will be dinner, drinks and live music, but what really sets this one apart is the theatre component. The show is loosely scripted with plenty of room for ad lib.

If you’ve ever seen Lies or Foss in action on the stage, you know that they’re going to have their best lines ready. “The other day the two of them were looking up ‘the worst pickup lines.’ It’s going to be a riot,” Belquist said.

The premise behind the story is that Bucky is teaching his apprentice Lenny the art of bingo calling, essentially pulling the audience into the performance as they play along with the bingo game. Be prepared for intense competitions and infectious humor.

Live music will be provided by vocalist and guitarist duo Sam and Chris Ellingson. Sibling duet Jared and Tess Hartl will share their talents on the tuba and accordion with the occasional polka performance.

Showtime is 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Brown Memorial in New Rockford. Tickets are $50 and are available in advance at http://www.dprca.com or by calling (701) 947-2174.
