Eddy County Sheriff's Update for August

Bench warrants have been issued for five individuals who failed to appear in court in August: Timothy Reid of Minot (driving under suspension- $750 cash bond); Karissa Richotte of Ft. Totten (unlawful use/display of license plates- $250 cash bond); Anthony D. Abrahamson of Ft. Totten (driving under suspension- $500 cash bond); Dillon R. Mckay of Ft. Totten (driving under suspension- $500 cash bond); and Sylvester P. Littlewind of Ft. Totten (DUI, DUS, possession of paraphernalia, false reports to law enforcement- $250 cash bond). George L. Miller, Jr. of Devils Lake faces Class C Felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on July 23 after a traffic stop, from which he was also cited for failure to wear a seatbelt. His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 12. He has a prior conviction in Ramsey County on Feb. 25, 2016 for possession of methamphetamine.

Jamie Willert of Fargo was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on July 20. He was traveling on Hwy. 20 around 9:40 p.m. when he was initially stopped for speeding. A breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol concentration to be 0.130%, and his bond was set at $300 cash. At his initial appearance on Aug. 8, he pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, he submitted a written guilty plea a few days later on Aug. 12. He was ordered to pay $750 in fines and fees and is subject to six months probation.

Rory J. Littleghost of Ft. Totten was stopped in New Rockford city limits on July 20. He is charged with Class B Misdemeanor driving under suspension. He pleaded not guilty to the charge on Aug. 8 and is due in court for a pre-trial conference on Oct. 10.

Terry Brashaw of Sheyenne was sentenced for driving under suspension, his second offense in five years. He was initially stopped in Sheyenne on May 6 and also cited for failure to wear a seatbelt. He pleaded not guilty to the charge on June 20, then reached a plea agreement on Aug. 7. He was sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation and ordered to pay $250 in fines and fees. Brashaw was previously convicted of driving under suspension in Eddy County in 2018. 

Dee Ann Demarce of Tokio faces her third driving under suspension charge in five years. She was stopped on Eddy County 1 on July 21 and cited for failure to wear a seatbelt, open container and driving without liability insurance. She pleaded not guilty to the DUS charge in court on Aug. 8. Her pre-trial conference is set for Oct. 10. Her prior offenses for DUS occurred in Grand Forks County in 2016 and Devils Lake in 2015.

Three might be a charm for Benjamin L. Gange of Crary as well. He was initially stopped for speeding on Eddy County 1 on May 16 and subsequently charged with driving under suspension. This is his third offense in five years. His prior offenses occurred in Ramsey County in 2017 and 2018. He pleaded not guilty in court on June 20 and is scheduled to stand trial on Sept. 26.

Ronald Mckay of Ft. Totten was caught in possession of marijuana outside the Sheyenne Bar on July 14. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 8 and was ordered to pay a $250 fine. He also pleaded guilty to an open container violation in connection with the incident.

Dalton J. Schuster of New Rockford was sentenced for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was initially stopped on Central Avenue in New Rockford for failure to display current registration/tabs and then charged with DUI. He pleaded guilty to the charge in court on Aug. 8. Judge Hovey sentenced him to 360 days of unsupervised probation and ordered him to pay $750 in fines and fees. Schuster’s passenger in the vehicle, Destiny Sewell of New Rockford, was cited for minor in consumption. A breathalyzer test taken at the scene revealed she had a blood alcohol content of 0.037%. She also pleaded guilty in court on Aug. 8; she was ordered to pay $375 in fines and fees and complete 20 hours of community service under the supervision of the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office. She is also subject to 360 days of unsupervised probation.

Cory Greene of Sheyenne served 13 days in jail last month for driving under revocation and DUI with refusal of chemical test. The traffic stop occurred on Sept. 7, 2018. On Nov. 15, 2018 he reached a plea agreement with authorities, in which he was ordered to serve 360 days of unsupervised probation and 24/7 program monitoring. A warrant was issued for his arrest in December 2018 for failure to enroll in the 24/7 program. He was arrested Aug. 7 and appeared in court on Aug. 8. As a result, his probation was revoked and sentence amended. Judge Hovey sentenced him to 20 days in jail, with 7 days credit for time served. He was also ordered to pay $1,785 in fines and fees and complete another 260 days of unsupervised probation.

Latasha Scott of New Rockford reached a plea agreement with authorities in a June drug case. Charges for Scott included Class C Felony endangerment of a child and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, ingesting a controlled substance and ingesting marijuana. She pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 360 days in the Lake Region Correctional Center, with 350 days suspended. She served her 10 days at the Lake Region Correctional Center beginning Aug. 12. Judge Hovey also ordered her to pay $560 in fines and fees. She is now subject to 360 days of unsupervised probation, enrollment in the 24/7 monitoring program, and completion of a chemical dependency evaluation.
