Independence Day 2019 is in the books and it was another successful July 4 celebration in Sheyenne, with the weather giving a beautiful day to add to the enjoyment!

The annual parade this year had 40+ entries and was quite entertaining! Parade winners were the SNR Pink Socks, Most Original; Vietnam Vets, Best Decorated; Community Band, Most Entertaining; Roger Eversvik, Horse; and Tucker Longnecker's hot rod, Old Vehicle. The parade watchers appreciate the work by the parade organizers each year.

The Pit Beef Barbeque at Ostby Hall served about 500 attendees this year. Much work goes into the dinner by the Sheyenne Fire Department and First Lutheran WELCA and is greatly appreciated by all who come for the meal, including Sheyenne community residents, out-of-towners and out-of-staters home for Independence Day. Along with enjoying the great meal, it is always a good time visiting with friends as well as various other places around town.

The evening of July 4, a fireworks display by the Elvis Thumb and James Pool families was enjoyed at the south end of town to cap off the day!

To finish up the Independence Day celebration in Sheyenne was the rodeo at Hendrickson Park Rodeo Grounds on Saturday with a large crowd enjoying the events. Always a fun time!
