Schedule set for annual 4th of July Celebration

Independence Day is approaching! A full slate of events is scheduled in New Rockford and Sheyenne this year starting on Thursday, July 4. The hallmark parades followed by community lunches will kick off the festivities in both towns. Events throughout the weekend include street dances, the Sheyenne rodeo, a poker run, Firecracker 5K Run, Lucky Duck Race and more! For a full event schedule, go online to http://www.cityofnewrockford.com or find the event page on Facebook.

The 4th of July fireworks show is a treasured part of the annual celebration, popular with locals and visitors of all ages. Community members are invited to help the New Rockford Chamber of Commerce sustain the fireworks display through its "Stars and Jars" donation campaign.

Anyone and everyone can be a "Star" supporter of the fireworks display by purchasing a Star at Miller's Fresh Foods or Bakers Dozen. The Stars are available in $2, $5, and $10 amounts, and feature the amount given and the donor's name. The purchased Stars will be displayed in the two businesses to showcase individual and community support for the annual fireworks show.

Another easy way to show your support is by dropping your change or bills in the "Jars", which are cash donation jars marked with flashy patriotic pinwheels. These fireworks fundraiser Jars will be hosted at a number of Chamber of Commerce businesses.

Individuals or businesses are always welcome to directly donate to support the event by speaking with any Chamber board member. The event is always free to spectators.
