Circle Trail Riders gather

The Circle Trail Riders hosted the annual family party and awards on Feb. 15, 2019. With outside temperature of 7 degrees below zero that night, the American Legion Post #30 of New Rockford was the place to be, especially if you were in the mood for a great potluck supper and good conversation.

Appetites were satisfied by those attending brought everything from macaroni to potato salads, homemade sausage to bbq wienies, tater tot hotdish to taco salad, chips and dip and brownies for a buffet style meal.

Rob and Margie Lies and Mike Williams played their tunes and sang for entertainment before and after supper, including a few rounds of wild musical chairs for the kids.

The fun awards found Bill Ziegler the recipient of the annual "Horses Rear Award." Bill's name is number 29 on the plaque. Charlotte Koepplin read a rhyming story of the incidents that put Bill in the running for this prestigious award.

Newcomer awards were presented to the following children: Jaxson Buck, Christopher Buck, Joie Helseth, Code Helseth, Kenny Helseth, Asher Allmaras. A special "Stinger" medal was given to little Harrison Jorgesen for being so brave after a wasp bite. One teamster license was given to Jaxson Buck, son of Mike and Karen and grandson to Dale and Diane Rosenberg.

A first ever "Special Recognition Award" was presented to Charter member, 100-year-old Ervin Longnecker. Secretary Charlotte Koepplin wrote and read an honorable story of Ervin and his teams and dedication to the Circle Trail Riders thru the years as President Dale Rosenberg presented the award. This award will be an annual thing from here on out

The trail riders gave Larry Rosenberg of Otis Orchard, Wash., thanks and credit for designing, making and donating the plaque for the Circle Trail Riders. Larry is a cousin to President Dale.

During the evening, the kids signed up for door prizes and made guesses to how many candy hearts there were in a jar. Winners were: Harrison Jorgensen with a big stuffed leopard toy; Jaxson Buck with cowboy boot with 20 $1 bills,; and Rynna Jorgesen with a basket of numerous fun items. The candy-count winner was Charlie Jorgensen.

Everything was done but the shouting, and the fun evening came to a close with thank you and congratulations to the award and door prizes. The winners all bundled up and headed for cozy, warm, home sweet home.
