The Oberon community lost a special lady on Dec. 11. The funeral for Jackie Roberts was held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake on Saturday, Dec. 22. It was attended by many relatives and friends. She will be missed.

John and Donna Grann are in Houston, Texas for the week staying with John’s brother, Paul, who is a patient at the MD Anderson Cancer Research Center.

Donna will drive up to Stephenville, Texas to visit Bobbi Grann for a few days during that time.

Breana and Elisa Buehler spent Christmas weekend at the Buehler farm. Beau and Bria Buehler joined the family at the Todd and Nadley Buehler farm to celebrate Elisa’s birthday Saturday and celebrate the family Christmas on Sunday. Sherry and Mike Boehmer of Devils Lake visited the Buehler family on Christmas Eve. Wednesday morning visitors at the Buehler farm were Gail, Gary and Wyatt Hendrickson of Olathe, Kan. Joe Wentz of Bismarck joined Elisa and family Thursday through Sunday. Todd, Nadley, Beau and Bria, Elisa, Joe and Hunter enjoyed supper in Maddock Saturday evening to celebrate Elisa and Joe’s engagement and an early New Year celebration together.

Lester Roberts visited James Nelson and Gene Wooley on Friday.

Saturday, Roger Roberts and Chad Getscher visited Lester.

Chad Nelson plowed out Doris Griffin’s yard and stopped in for a short visit.

Randy and Charlotte Simon attended the family and friends gathering for Jackie Roberts at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel Friday, Dec. 21. Sunday, Dec. 23, Randy and Charlotte visited Charlotte’s mother, Joan Bosch at the Care Center in Rugby. That evening, the Simon’s went to Dean and Rita Sorlie’s home for their family Christmas celebration. Christmas Eve, Randy and Charlotte along with Lee, Amy, Easton and Jaxon Simon attended mass in Esmond. They returned to Lee and Amy’s home for dinner and games etc. Christmas Day, Mark, Tessa, Mason and Miles Simon of Oxbow, N.D., Heidi, Carson, Max and Elin Thompson of Grand Forks and Lee, Amy, Easton and Jaxon spent the day with Randy and Charlotte. Saturday night, Randy, Charlotte and Easton took in the girls basketball game between Harvey-Wells County and Benson County Wildcats in Maddock.

James Nelson enjoyed Christmas at David and Bonnie Nelson’s home.Friday, Lester Roberts and Gene Wooley visited James.

Dave and Linda Madson traveled to Grand Forks on business Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Friday evening, Dec. 21, Cathy and Shawn Caulfield of Jamestown, Carrie Madson and Paul Prince, Dave and Linda and Tanner and Leah Nicholls celebrated an early Christmas at the home of Melodie, Kennedee and McKenzee Madson. Saturday morning, Dave, Linda and Melodie attended the funeral for Jackie Roberts. Following services, they joined Carrie, Paul, Shawn and Cathy, Kennedee and McKenzee for dinner and games and visiting. Monday afternoon, Dave, Linda, Melodie, Kennedee and McKenzee traveled to Jamestown to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Shawn and Cathy. Other guests were Brandon, Sarah, Paige and Easton Caulfield of Jamestown, Jerad, Sammy, Ryker and Ashton of Casselton, and brief visit from Bryan Caulfield and Pat and Kay Caulfield. Kennedee and McKenzee spent Wednesday afternoon and Friday with Grandpa and Grandma Madson. Since their daycare provider went to Florida with the Devils Lake Dazzler Dance team, they have no day care and they will spend Monday and Wednesday with grandpa and grandma before they go back to school on Thursday. Saturday afternoon, Dave and Linda joined Kinley Poulsen, Mr. Syl Brown, and Bob Brown of Las Vegas, Nev. for coffee and cookies at Melodie’s home.
