Bambi trots to victory at Eagles Calcutta

Deer season was the theme, and kids were in the limelight at the fifth annual "Run for the Roses" Eagles Stick Horse Calcutta on Sat., Nov. 17.

Generous community members held a rousing auction that brought the sale for each of the six horses over $1,000. There was a bit of a bidding war for the final horse, Miss Fire, which sold for $1,800.

Then it was time to choose jockeys, and the youth in attendance were in high demand. The oldest jockey chosen to race was sixth-grader Kendrick Hopfauf. The other jockeys were Josslyn Hager, Jacoby Hager, Elise Guler, Alivia Yri and Bryce Yri.
