Carrington Research Extension Center to receive funds for seed cleaning technology

Farm Credit Services of North Dakota has awarded the NDSU Foundation and Alumni Association with the Pat-NOW Community Fund totaling $25,000. The grant funds will help fund the construction of a new seed cleaning and conditioning building and equipment at the NDSU Research Extension Center in Carrington, N.D.

Blaine Schatz, Director, and Dave Copenhaver, the Seed Stocks Manager at the Carrington Research Extension Center are pleased to accept the check and utilize the grant funds towards building the new facility.

"Farm Credit is proud to provide grant funds to assist the NDSU Foundation to build an updated seed facility," says Claude Sem, CEO of Farm Credit Services of North Dakota.

The seed program is an essential part in the strategic planning and production of foundation seed in the state. The central location of the Carrington Research Extension Center aids in researching needs representing agriculture across North Dakota.

Helping construct this seed facility provides them with the resources they need to continue to support area producers in the rural communities. Farm Credit Services believes it is important to give back to the community. "The area agricultural and agri-business community will all benefit from the programs, enhanced productivity and diversity of the new facility," Sem adds.

Farm Credit Services of North Dakota established the Pat-NOW Community Fund to assist in the implementation and development of projects and programs in local communities and rural areas in western North Dakota.
