Coal Country Masonry of Center, N.D. arrived Wednesday to install thin brick veneer below the windows on each exterior wall section. Owner and 23-year veteran mason Dave Marklevitz was on scene Thursday explaining how the pre-cut bricks fit into metal panels anchored to the wall with screws. This fairly new process uses glue instead of mortar to adhere the bricks to the substrate, resulting in a light weight but durable surface that requires less labor to install and is easier to repair than traditional solid masonry.
Wayne Stephenson of CTS Group, the New Rockford-Sheyenne School District's on-site project manager, gave the school board an update on the construction project during their July 16 meeting.
