Obituary: William Aslakson

William R. "Bill" Aslakson, 73, of New Rockford, N.D. passed away at his home on Friday, April 6, 2018. The funeral service was held April 11, 2018 at the First Congregational Church, New Rockford. Rev. Rick Loewen officiated. Music was provided by Joyce Starke. Casket Bearers were: Scott Hager, Michael Hager, David Hager, Nick Werth, Kevin Johnson, Hunter Hanson. Honorary Bearers were Andy Hager, Russ Werth, Jeff Weikum, Murl Culp, Dennis Haugen.

Bill was born in Jamestown, N.D. on November 17, 1944, the son of Olav and Isabelle (Sinclair) Aslakson. The family moved to New Rockford in 1945, and Bill started his education at the "West Side School" and continued on through at NRHS, graduating in 1962. After graduation he attended UND and NDSCS for a short time before stints as a factory laborer, a hotel desk clerk in Arizona, a clerk at the Fargo Public Library, a construction laborer at the Coyote Plant near Beulah, a worker at the pasta plant in Carrington, an inspector at Integrity Windows in Fargo, a contributing sports writer for The Transcript, and the New Rockford park department.

Bill will live on in the memories of his sisters: Kristy (Andy) Hager, LaMoure, N.D.; and Betty (Russ) Werth, Bowman, N.D.; seven nieces and nephews and their growing families: Wendy (Jeff) Weikum, Bismarck, N.D.; Sally Hager, LaMoure, N.D.; Scott (Dana) Hager, Bismarck, N.D.; Michael (Jessica) Hager, Beulah, N.D.; David (Helen) Hager, Grand Forks, N.D.; Nick (Deb Birch) Werth, Rhame, N.D.; and Alicia (Darrell) Gettis, Wenatchee, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
