Holiday Hoops: Rockets go 0 for 2 against Hillsboro-Central Valley Burros

Ashley Schuster went down with an ankle injury in the first quarter and did not return. The locals struggled offensively in the middle two quarters. In the end Hillsboro- Central Valley defeated New Rockford-Sheyenne by a final score of 55-32 in girls basketball action of the Hillsboro Holiday Hoops played at Central Valley School in Buxton on Thursday December 28.

 The Burros are a pretty good team overall. They led throughout and at all quarter stops, 13-11, 32-17, 49-21.  

 At times the locals had trouble handling the defensive pressure. Hannah Haley paced the Rockets with 12 points, Lauren Roscoe added 11. Gracie Wright paced the Burros with a game high 13 points, and Grace Dryburgh added 11.

 The locals made 12 field goals, 7 of 12 free throws had 12 fouls, and committed 19 turnovers.

 Hillsboro-CV made 24 field goals, 6 of 10 field goals, had 15 fouls and committed 16 turnovers.

 The Rockets are now 5-3 overall.

 The New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets boys varsity squad also played Hillboro-Central Valley in Holiday Hoops. It was Burros pretty much all the way as they defeated the Rockets by a final score of 75 -46. Keep in mind they won the state tournament last Spring. The locals never quit but just ran into a very good team.

 Hillsboro-Central Valley led throughout and at all quarter stops 21-11, 36-23, 57-34, and won going away by a final score of 75 -46.

 Teddy Allmaras paced the locals with 10 points, Carson Henningsgaard led the Burros with a game high 21 points, Jack Camrud had 15,

Cade Baesler 12, and Landed Reed 10.

 NewRockford-Sheyenne made 16 field goals, 11 of 15 free throws, 9 fouls and commited 19 turnovers. The Burros made 31 field goals, 7 of 10 free throws, 14 fouls and commited 15 turnovers.
