    NR-S Homecoming festivities began Monday with coronation at 10 a.m. Keaton Cudworth and Kelsie Belquist were crowned the 2023 Homecoming King and Queen during an elegant ceremony in the NR-S gymnasium.     It’s only an exercise! Area first responders, including fire department, ambulance and law enforcement agencies, will be responding to a simulated event on August 29 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Emergency vehicles and possible smoke will be seen around and by the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.   • Freedom 5K set for July 1; registration open now!

    Kick off the Independence Day weekend with the Freedom 5K in downtown New Rockford. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Transcript Publishing office, 817 Central Avenue in New Rockford.     After a hiatus from the annual gala last year due to the pandemic, the Class of 2022 worked hard to put together a magical scene for Prom 2021.     Kickstands up for Richter’s annual Wienerschnitzel Bike Run on Saturday, May 25. Riders are welcome to register beginning at 10 a.m. at Buck-It’s Bar. Cost is $20 per bike and $5 per rider.
