  • Let's unleash the entrepreneur

    Tom Purcell|May 9, 2022

I started my first business in the fifth grade when I convinced a neighbor to allow me to cut her grass with her electric lawn mower. That project ended in immediate failure. The mower was powered by a long extension cord — a cord I ran over and sliced in two shortly after I began mowing. Such is the life of the entrepreneur, a life typically filled with lots more failure than success. According to The Balance Small Business, an entrepreneur is someone who develops an enterprise around an i...

  • Make your communication handwritten and heartfelt

As a professional communicator, I strive daily to communicate as effectively as possible. From soldiers and their sweethearts corresponding during wartime, to close friends spread across the country keeping each other up to date on their lives, there...

The court’s entry into this constitutional maze foreshadowed the controversy that surrounds - to this day - governmental acts and programs that promote religion. At issue in Everson was a New Jersey statute that authorized local school boards to reimburse parents, including those whose children attended Catho...

  • Dakota Gardener: May 9, 2022

    Joe Zeleznik|May 9, 2022

When I was in college, I enjoyed country music a lot. In the late 1980s, Tanya Tucker had a No. 1 single titled, “Strong Enough to Bend.” The song relates strength to flexibility, with the analogy of a strong tree and a strong relationship. Both the partners in the relationship and the tree need to be strong enough to bend during difficult times. I like the analogy, though I’m much more of an expert with trees than I am with relationships!
