    The city sales tax in New Rockford will officially increase from 2 percent to 2.5 percent on July 1. The New Rockford City Commission approved the second reading of the required ordinance change at a special meeting on Monday, March 18. The state tax commissioner’s office now needs 90 days to implement the change.     At its March meeting, the Northern Plains Electric Operation Round Up board of directors approved grants totaling $10,400 to help support worthy causes. These charitable grants are made possible through the generosity of Northern Plains Electric Cooperative members who voluntarily elect to have their electric bills rounded up to the next dollar. The donated amount averages about 50 cents a month for each participating member, and raises approximately $37,000 each year.
