    Republican lawmakers have prepared draft legislation that would tap part of North Dakota’s Legacy Fund to provide low-interest loans for large and expensive infrastructure projects. The Legacy Fund, approved by voters in 2010, is where 30 percent of state tax revenues from oil and natural gas production are deposited. The fund now holds more than $5.42 billion.   • Cattle truck rolls on Hwy. 281 near Oberon

    The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that a cattle truck rolled onto its side on Tuesday, March 13, three miles north of Oberon, N.D. The driver, Chad Tichota, 39, of Norfolk, Neb., was driving a 2003 Peterbilt truck and pulling a cattle trailer hauling 67 animals. He was traveling south on U.S. Highway 281, coming from Rugby, when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve. The truck entered the ditch and rolled onto its side.     Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem announced a settlement agreement that will release over $34 million belonging to North Dakota that has been held in an escrow account during a decade-long dispute between the state and the major tobacco companies.
